  • World of Warcraft: How Much Can You Sacrifice on a Game?

Well, for a long time I thought about this article. But now I feel that I have to write it. And I have to confess that I’ve become a WoW addicted.

This simple game demands much of your time to stay current. To be welcomed by the community. And to be accepted by other players that play with you in the same “guild”. This game demands much of your time to earn in-game money, to get better armor and you (not just your character, but you personally) is judged by this. And if you put all in this game, as a reward you’ll get friends, random people to spend a nice time and to have a nice chat, maybe some respect from other players.

And if you are not ready to sacrifice your real life on this game, you’ll get almost nothing of what  it’s offering. read more »

    Symantec Antivirus 2010 vs. PlayFirst

Few days ago I’ve updated my antivirus to Symantec Antivirus 2010 edition. Everything was fine until I downloaded a new trial game from PlayFirst. When the game was installed and I started it for the first time, the Symantec Antivirus have blocked something and I’ve got my trial time immediately expired. Here is the information from Symantec Antivirus 2010 about this problem:

    symantec-vs-playfirst

I am going to write a message to PlayFirst about it. In the meantime, it seems that the only solution is to turn off the auto-protect every time when you want to install and play PlayFirst trial games. I am pretty sure that there is no harmful code in these games and the problem is that the protection engine make some modifications to the game code. Which is suspicious to antivirus because many trojans and viruses behave the same way.

Pictures from the Museum of Ukrainian Architecture and Arts

    An old house.

Today I had a trip to the National Museum of Ukrainian Architecture And Art to take pictures for my new game. The museum is an old village, where you can enter every house and see how our ancestors lived. It has a huge colleciton of real buildings that were transported there from the whole Ukraine.

Its a peaceful and quitet place, and we enjoyed it too much. I brought lots of pictures, and you can see the best of them in this post. read more »

    Globat.com Charges For Non-Existing Accounts

Several years ago, I had one of my websites hosted at Globat.com. It was a small website, just a few static pages. And they had a cheap hosting plan that was perfect to me.

So, I used to be their customer for a half of year or so, then I rented a dedicated server and moved all my websites there.

And canceled my account at Globat.com.

For these years, I received numerous e-mails about several upgrades that I can buy for my “account on Globat.com”, and I ignored them and even moved to a spam folder – because it was actually a spam. But the letter I’ve got today have thrilled me so much, that I’ve decided to make a post to my gaming blog about it. So, here what they wrote to me: read more »

    “AdWares” In Games From Trymedia

The problem with games presented by Trymedia is that they are recognized as adwares by most antiviruses. We had several complains from our customers about it and so I contacted Trymedia and asked them to explain this situation.

All their games have 2 parts – the downloader and the game itself. When you download such game, you actually download a small program that download the rest of the game for you. And while it download the game, it show different ads to you. Most antiviruses consider this action as adware and warn you about this when you downloaded the downloader. But is this a real adware, or just the paranoia of antiviruses? read more »
