Sam & Max

Long time ago, when Microsoft Windows was an exotic “file commander” and advanced “text editor”, and most computers have worked under DOS, LucasArts (a subdivision of LucasFilm company) made world-best quests for Amiga and PC. Everyone who love quests is familiar with the “Escape from Monkey Island”, “A Day Of The Tentacle”, “Maniac Mansion”, “Full Throttle” and, of course, “Sam and Max Hit the Road”. These quests allowed us to immerse into the magical world created by the best storywriters, artists, animators and sound engineers. Each game was a cartoon and each story have made us love, share and laugh for many times before it comes to an end…

That is why I was very impressed to know that Sam & Max are back - with a modern 3D graphics, and with the story written by the same people who did it for LucasArts!

But before we continue, I have to warn you that this game is not recommended for kids and those, who don’t accept a slight violence (no blood, but lots of “your momma”-like jokes and *censored* words, wich are beeped).

Welcome to the Big Fish Games World?

Today I’ve received a message from Big Fish Games, which says that their partners should not launch Big Fish’es “Tomorrow’s Game Today” on their websites. Unfortunately, about a third of their “tomorrow’s” games have already been launced at other portals, and even at EmotionRays.com. Besides, most of these “tomorrow’s” games were launched WEEKS ago.

Westward II: Heroes Of The Frontier

Welcome to the Wild West! Wild enough to be extremely dangerous place to live. And where most people are struggling to survive, only a hero can lead them, protect them and take care about their needs. So, should I tell you, who is going to be a hero in this game? ;)

Unlike most small games, Westward II is a mix of a strategy and a role-playing genre. And if you play other games than small games, you might already know a good example of such mix - Warcraft 3. And - yes, Westward II takes almost everything from the Warcraft.

Build-A-Lot 2: Town of the Year

If you like games, you should know about the Build-A-Lot, one of the best games of 2007 which is stll a top game on some portals. A sequel to this game was just a matter of time. And the time has come. Build-A-Lot 2: Town of the Year was released on Big Fish Games today.

Build-A-Lot 2 is a game about the real estate. You are the property owner who make money from a rent. Initially you own some land and a few houses. You can build more houses on your land, and you can upgrade all of them to raise the rental. You can sell your houses to raise some quick money, or you can demolish them to free the land for a more profitable building. You also can buy buildings of your competitors when they are on sale. Besides houses, you also can build recreation and entertainment centers, business structures and industrial buildings that produce cheaper goods.

Cooking Academy

It was a hard decision for me to write about this game. I can’t say that I like it. However, it is based on unique idea. And its perfect to learn how to cook, if they don’t cheat with the recipes :)

When I saw this game today on Big Fish Games, I’ve thought that its another time management game like Diner Dash, where you need to cook for customers by mixing different ingredients like in Cake Mania (ah, my bad habit to compare one game with another, that you might not know…) But when I started the game - well, I was a bit disappointed because what I’ve seen was too far from what I’ve expected.
