Build-A-Lot 2: Town of the Year

If you like games, you should know about the Build-A-Lot, one of the best games of 2007 which is stll a top game on some portals. A sequel to this game was just a matter of time. And the time has come. Build-A-Lot 2: Town of the Year was released on Big Fish Games today.

Build-A-Lot 2 is a game about the real estate. You are the property owner who make money from a rent. Initially you own some land and a few houses. You can build more houses on your land, and you can upgrade all of them to raise the rental. You can sell your houses to raise some quick money, or you can demolish them to free the land for a more profitable building. You also can buy buildings of your competitors when they are on sale. Besides houses, you also can build recreation and entertainment centers, business structures and industrial buildings that produce cheaper goods.

Sounds like a game with a too many options to handle? - Don’t worry about that. Build-A-Lot 2 is actually a simpliest tycoon game I’ve ever seen! To build a house, you only need to have some amount of free workers and “materials”. Materials are used for everything, from building to repairing and upgrading. And you don’t have to care about different kinds of materials, its just “materials”. Workers are also just “workers”. Pretty simple. Besides, your workers are happy to work for food - at least you don’t spend money on building, just a proper amount of materials. The money are used to buy materials, hire workers (if necessary) and to order drafts.

You can’t build anything without a draft. So if you want to build more expensive mansions to get a higher rental - you need to order drafts.  Business structures like shop or bank will also generate a good income. Recreation centers along with painter houses increases the overall appeal of the area. And - yes, the appeal is a new addition to this game, and the rental is depends on it. Besides, in some missions you have to gain a necessary appeal to win.

Another innovation is the deadline. Most levels are time limited, but there seems to always be enough time, even if you don’t like to play fast. I have also found another new feature of Build-A-Lot 2, which is pretty fun. Now you can receive letters from different organizations, which can grant some money or force you to pay for any reason. And you also can get a “thank you” letters from people who lives in your buildings. Well, its always a pleasure to get a good virtual feedback from the virtual tenants.

Build-A-Lot 2 have a great tutorial! So even if you have never a game like this before, its a matter of 5-10 minutes to become a pro. And you always get hints about the difficult tasks that are not too obvious.

Now, traditionally, about the graphics. :) The graphics in Build-A-Lot 2 is slightly better than in it’s prequel. Probably, just a bit polished. And of course not bad at all! The added features don’t make this game too difficult. And that is great, because many people don’t like to spend a time to learn the rules of a hard game.Build-A-Lot 2 is a good game that can catch you for many hours. At least, I didn’t believed that a hour have passed when my trial time was over. And, well, - I wish they will finally let me to withdraw all my career money in the next sequel of this fabulous game ;)

    It’s pretty easy…

First of all, you need to build a Garden Center (under the Buildings button). If you can’t build it, you have to buy a draft with it first.

Once you do that, a “Landscape” button will become active, and you will be able to landscaping the houses by clicking on it.

Sorry that it takes too long to answer you. I just passed to the level with landscaping…
