Globat.com Charges For Non-Existing Accounts

Several years ago, I had one of my websites hosted at Globat.com. It was a small website, just a few static pages. And they had a cheap hosting plan that was perfect to me.

So, I used to be their customer for a half of year or so, then I rented a dedicated server and moved all my websites there.

And canceled my account at Globat.com.

For these years, I received numerous e-mails about several upgrades that I can buy for my “account on Globat.com”, and I ignored them and even moved to a spam folder - because it was actually a spam. But the letter I’ve got today have thrilled me so much, that I’ve decided to make a post to my gaming blog about it. So, here what they wrote to me:

“From: tbupgrade1@globat.com

Subject: Attention: Your www.—.com could not be upgraded!

—-

Dear Kostya,

As per our previous notices, today we have attempted to upgrade your hosting account for desktop-xp.com to the new TeraByte Ultra(tm) package, the best Web hosting package to date with tons of new features. When we tried to process your invoice in the amount of $49.95 through your credit card account on file, the charge came back as DECLINED.

Please contact us to update your payment information or make other arrangement (we also accept Paypal) with our business office; our contact e-mail and phones are listed below.”

I haven’t read any “previous notices” because I wasn’t interested in Globat.com business. But it is clear to me that nobody have to charge the credit card of any (current or previous) customers without their agreement and approval. Fortunately, I have changed my credit card two years ago because of some circumstances, so they actually tried to charge a non-existing credit card. But - hey! - they never asked me if I want this upgrade. They just tried to rob me and to get my money to make some “improvements” to a non-existing hosting account.

So, be careful - cheap prices are never means quality service! And its probably a bad idea to have any deals with Globat.com, beause you never know when they will try to take your money without your agreement.

  1. I Agree with everything you said.
I’m currently a customer at globat.com and I receive spam every second day, with what they say ” Automatic Upgrade “.
So They will charge you 50$ Automaticaly if you dont prompt out of the offer. I have to do this almost every second day.

My Contract will expire in 2008 with globat.
I wish I never signed up with them.
My final thought is “STAY AWAY FROM GLOBAT”.
    Thank you,
    Tom.
