If you familiar with the Cake Mania, you will notice the following changes in this sequel – its bigger, slower and the upgrades are slightly different. The bigger means that there is a big city map in the game and it have lots of different levels to play. Its also means that the Cake Mania 2 have more visual effects and animations. There are more different customers, and lots of background animation that adds life to ingame scenes. Slower means that Jill (a main hero) now is much slower until you buy her a new shoes. And the game is also slower than the first part. So it is not as impossible to play like the first one. As for the upgrades, the additional equipment that you can buy is not the same with the one that you already have. In other words, if you have an oven that can bake four different cakes and you buy a new oven, only two of cakes will be the same. The rest will be unique. And its true for the other fitness – you can’t buy two completely equal items.

Well, it was just a brief information for those who have played the first part. Now lets take a closer look on the game.

Probably inspired by Jill’s success, some of her friends have decided to follow her. They opened own cafe and failed. And then they came to Jill to ask for help. Well, why not to lend a helpful hand to someone who really need it?

So, lets serve the customers again. We have to please their ego to keep them happy (why, – WHY they can’t understand that baking should take some time?). We also have to bake cakes according to their will. The goal is to earn enough money to pass to the next level. There are baker goal and expert goal. The baker goal is a minimum amount, and the expert goal is a must for everyone who consider himself a professional gamer. To reach it, you have to wisely choose which upgrade to buy. There are several kinds of them. Some can speed up baking, others can cheer up the customers and the rest can increase the cost of a cake.

Remember, you always have to care about the happiness of your customers. Sad customers means no gratuities. You should serve them very fast (they hate to wait too long). Or you can bring them some coffee or turn on their favourite TV show, if you bouhght the proper upgrades.

As I said, there is a big city map in the game. When you choose a friend to help, it will “zoom” a small area to show you a cafe that you have to improve. And each cafe has own “minimap” to track progress. I believe, this should means two things – a game is really BIG, you won’t be able to win it in a few hours or even a few days. And Jill have a lot of jelaous friends who followed her.

Cake Mania 2 is more a cartoon than a game. I love the way its painted, and the animation is also looks very professionally. I bet that they used a service of professional animator for this game. Along with plenty of cartoon characters, there are also numerous background animations. Like cats on the roof or fishes that can be seen through the windows in underwater cafe. There are also lots of visual effects like cool transitions and so on.

Ok, lets summarize. Cake Mania 2 is definitely better than the first game. It is not so hard to play (some levels in original Cake Mania were just impossible to win) and definitely much bigger and longer. Its a good game, and also a long-awaited sequel. So if you like this kind of games, you have to get it.
