“AdWares” In Games From Trymedia

The problem with games presented by Trymedia is that they are recognized as adwares by most antiviruses. We had several complains from our customers about it and so I contacted Trymedia and asked them to explain this situation.

All their games have 2 parts - the downloader and the game itself. When you download such game, you actually download a small program that download the rest of the game for you. And while it download the game, it show different ads to you. Most antiviruses consider this action as adware and warn you about this when you downloaded the downloader. But is this a real adware, or just the paranoia of antiviruses?

Lets check Wikipedia:

Adware or advertising-supported software is any software package which automatically plays, displays, or downloads advertising material to a computer after the software is installed on it or while the application is being used. (click here to see the rest of the wiki article about adwares)

So, technically - it is the adware. But not a virus. Unlike many other adwares, it doesn’t install plugins in your browser that display ads every time when you browsing the internet. It also doesn’t display any ads in the game, just while it downloading. It also doesn’t send any private information somewhere, it just rotate banners. No harm to your computer, Trymedia downloaders are 100% safe.

Guys from Trymedia said, that they already contacted the developers of popular antiviruses and asked them to fix this problem. But seems like they had no responce. :???:
